About Can-Do Women
Welcome to the Can-Do Women blog!
My name is Rachel and I’m in my early forties living in coastal New Jersey with my husband and small needy dog. As well as being a full-time blogger, I enjoy travelling, reading, knitting, gardening, cooking, as well as many other activities and interests.
In addition to the Can-Do Women blog, I also write at The Cancer Culture Chronicles, about my experiences and observations as a woman living with breast cancer.
I am completely fascinated by the everyday lives of women, both past and present. In fact, in many respects, I find the stories of ordinary women to be even more compelling and inspiring than those of more famous women. These unsung, but extraordinary, ordinary women provide us with a window into their lives at a particular time and place, which, in turn, often provides us with eye-opening insights as to how women viewed themselves and how they were perceived by the society and culture of that time.
I am interested in reading and sharing stories, photographs and pictures, letters, mirrors into home life, and other interesting snippets of everyday life that show us how women lived, loved, survived and thrived through the ages, even in the most difficult of circumstances. The fragments of the women’s lives featured in this blog remind us why we should all aspire to be “Can-Do Women”.
